An exhibition of French photographer and serial romantic Bruno Moyen’s
portraits of New York opens Thursday, April 26th with a dose of
rose-hued nostalgia.
This story begins in typical French fashion with
an “histoire d’amour”; Moyen wanted to convince a girlfriend to come
join him in New York and thought that photographing the city in a
dreamily irresistible way was the best approach. “If I were a writer I
would have written poems, but… I am a photographer.” The results are
poetry. Based downtown, Moyen focused on historic areas that are lovely
in a way we don’t normally associate with New York. The photographs
create an atmosphere that is otherworldly, sentimental and somehow,
European! Bruno
Moyen, a native of Grenoble, works as a professional documentary and
still life photographer.
